Little Free Pantry : Take what you need. Leave what you can. Little becomes much In the Creator’s hands.
When the pandemic first started Lehman Idetown UMC placed a bin or two containing foodstuffs in the front of the church in order to help meet the needs of our community. As time went on and circumstances changed, we stopped putting those items out. The time has come again when some in this and surrounding neighborhoods are dealing with food insecurity once more. We are, therefore, in the process of putting together a “Little Free Pantry” or “Blessing Box” in order to reach those in our community who may find themselves in need. This box will also give those in our community with a desire to help a chance to do so by placing pantry donations of their own. Neighbors helping neighbors is a ministry that our church participates in; by offering help to those in need, we are encouraging others in our community to do so, too. Items for donation can be placed directly in the pantry.
Thank you for your help as we resume this small ministry. We are looking for shelf stable food items that are a healthy snack or that can be made into a healthy meal such as:
Canned vegetables / Bread / Jelly / Peanut Butter / Canned Meats / Juice / Pretzels / Popped Popcorn / Dry Pasta / Crackers / Baby Formula Cereal / Rice / Dried Milk / Soups / Oatmeal
Our second box is for non-food items, if you are looking for toiletries or household items — check it out.
For donations, please contact 570-675-1216 to arrange a drop off (do not leave outside boxes).
